Rental terms

These conditions apply to every vehicle rented from Quick Car Rental at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, Mauritius. Booking a car means accepting them.

Last updated: August 6, 2026

These terms reflect how Quick Car Rental operates today. They are provided for information and should be reviewed by a Mauritian legal adviser before being relied on in a dispute.

1. Who you are contracting with

The rental contract is between you, the named driver, and Quick Car Rental Ltd, based at Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport, Plaine Magnien, Mauritius. The contract is formed when we confirm your booking, not when you submit it.

2. Who may drive

The main driver must be at least 21 years old and must have held a full driving licence for at least one year. A licence issued in English or French is accepted as it is. A licence in any other language or alphabet must be accompanied by an International Driving Permit. A second driver may be added free of charge, but must be present with their licence when the car is collected β€” anyone not named on the contract is not insured to drive.

3. Booking and confirmation

A deposit of 25% of the total is taken online to secure the booking. Your booking remains provisional until we confirm it by email or WhatsApp, normally the same day. If the vehicle you chose becomes unavailable we will offer you an equivalent or better car at the price you were quoted.

4. What the price includes

The quoted price includes comprehensive insurance, unlimited mileage, delivery and collection at SSR Airport at any hour, air conditioning, 24/7 roadside assistance, a second driver, and the standard vehicle wash. Beyond the quoted price and any optional extras you choose yourself, there are no fees.

5. Rates falling with duration

Our daily rate falls automatically at 3 days, again at 7 days and again at 14 days. The applicable rate is calculated from the total booked duration and is shown before you confirm. If you extend an ongoing rental past one of these thresholds, the lower rate applies to the extended duration. Rentals of 1–2 days are collected and returned at the airport only.

6. Security deposit

We do not take a security deposit. Nothing is held or blocked on your card. You pay only if the vehicle is returned damaged, and only for the damage itself β€” an amount the collision damage waiver reduces substantially if you have taken it. We contact you before charging anything.

7. Payment

25% of the total is payable online when you book, and the remaining 75% when the vehicle is handed over, in cash or by card. The online payment is processed by our payment provider; we never see your card details and we never ask for them by email, WhatsApp or telephone.

8. Collection and return

We meet you in the arrivals hall of SSR Airport with a sign showing your name. If you give us your flight number at booking we track the flight and wait for you, with no late-arrival fee however delayed you are. Where you have booked hotel delivery, the fee is shown before you confirm and depends on the region of the island. Please tell us as early as you can if your return time changes.

9. Fuel

Full to full. The vehicle is supplied with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank. If it is returned short, we charge the cost of the missing fuel plus a small refuelling charge.

10. How the vehicle may be used

The whole island is open to you and mileage is unlimited. The vehicle must not be driven on unsurfaced beach tracks or other unmade roads, where it is not insured. It must not be used to carry passengers for hire, to tow, to teach driving, in any competition, or to transport goods it was not designed to carry. It must not be sub-let or lent to anyone not named on the contract, and must not be taken off Mauritius.

11. Insurance and excess

Every rental includes comprehensive insurance. An excess applies to any claim, and we explain the amount clearly when you collect the vehicle. Taking the collision damage waiver reduces that excess substantially. Insurance does not cover damage caused while driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, damage caused by an unauthorised driver, damage to tyres, the underbody or the interior, or damage sustained on unsurfaced roads.

12. Breakdown, accident or theft

Call us first, on the number on your rental agreement β€” we answer 24 hours a day. In an accident, however minor, you must also report it to the police and obtain a report, because Mauritian insurers require one. Do not admit liability or agree a settlement at the roadside. We will arrange assistance and, where the fault is not yours, a replacement vehicle as quickly as we can.

13. Mechanical failure

If the vehicle fails mechanically in normal use, that is our responsibility and not yours. Call us: we arrange the repair or a replacement vehicle, and you are not charged for the rental days lost. This does not apply to tyre damage, to the wrong fuel being used, or to damage caused by misuse or by driving on unsurfaced roads.

14. Drivers with less than three years' experience

If the driver has held their licence for less than three years, an additional excess of €190 applies in the event of an accident. It is charged only if an accident occurs, never at the time of booking, and it does not apply at all where the collision damage waiver has been taken. You confirm your licence history when you book.

15. Traffic fines

You are responsible for any fine, penalty or charge incurred while the vehicle is in your care, including those that reach us after you have left the island. We will contact you before asking you for anything.

16. Extending or returning early

To keep the car longer, tell us before the agreed return time so we can check it is not already promised to someone else, and we will re-quote at the appropriate rate. Vehicles returned early are charged for the days actually used, at the rate applicable to that shorter duration.

17. Cancellation

Cancel within 48 hours of paying and your deposit is refunded in full. After that the deposit is not refundable, though we will try to move it to new dates if you ask. We ask only that you tell us, so the car can be released to another traveller.

18. Our liability

We are liable for loss you suffer as a direct result of our failure to provide the vehicle as agreed. We are not liable for indirect losses such as missed flights, missed accommodation or lost holiday time, except where they follow directly from our own failure. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

19. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Mauritius, and the courts of Mauritius have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.

20. Questions

Anything unclear, ask before you book rather than after. We answer on WhatsApp within minutes, in English or French.
